Ambientech is a non-lucrative association with the aim to promote environmental education through education in Sciences and Technology focused in the protection of environment. Environmental education is not another subject to include to the current education programmes, but a transversal issue, which must be included in all education programmes aimed to pupils of all ages.
Ambientech was born on the 6th of June of 2001 with the strong belief that environmental education must be the base of a change of values towards the relation of people with their environment.
Ambientech started its activity by conducting research for a period of two years on the development of an active and innovative educative methodology which permitted to increase the motivation of students and to decrease, as far as possible, school failure in the study of sciences, technology and environment, especially for the non-university educative community.
Ambientech then decided to include information and communication technologies as a basic tool for education, on the one hand facilitating the adaptation of the programme to the current technological culture and, on the other, to offer a new resource for the classroom, opening it to new educative and training paradigms.
After two years of methodological research, at the beginning of 2003, this programme was established as a reference educative website for sciences and technology, with a strong focus to environmental protection.
